Jerry Murrell believed that in order to compete with other large and well established fast food chains, they would need to concentrate on the quality of their product, and the satisfaction of their customers.   Their meat is fresh, and 80% lean.   Their potatoes are from northern Idaho where they are grown slower and they use a special “blanching process” to seal in freshness and keeps the grease out. They keep costs down by not spending money on fancy decor, instead all locations have red and white tile. They also don’t spend huge amounts of money on advertising.   Jerry felt that if they made a customer happy, that person would walk out the door and sell for them.   They claim that their plants are so clean, “you could eat off the floor”.   The original person that baked their buns was made a partner and continues with the company today, and ensures every store gets fresh buns every day no matter how far away the store is located from any of their current Ten US bakeries.

They have stayed with the original burger and fries formula that first brought them success.   They tried various menu combinations like coffee and a chicken sandwich, but that was a failure.   Sticking with the original formula has proved to be very successful for them.   According to Jerry Murrell he states, “Our food prices fluctuate.
